Sunny Deol Resumes Antony Shoot, Begins Filming High-Octane Action Scenes
Actor Sunny Deol has quickly returned to the film set following the theatrical release of his latest historical drama, Batwara 1947. Although the Partition-based film did not match the massive box-office success of his 2023 hit Gadar 2: The Katha Continues, the veteran star continues to maintain a busy schedule. He is currently balancing four major upcoming projects, which include Antony, Ramayana: Part 2, Jaat 2, and an untitled film directed by Rajkumar Santoshi.
Directly after the release of Batwara 1947, Deol resumed work on Excel Entertainment’s upcoming cop action-thriller, Antony. Directed by Balaji Ganesh, the project is currently in production at Film City. Reports indicate that the actor returned to set on August 26 to shoot several physically demanding and intense sequence setups for the film.
According to a source close to the production, the current shooting schedule is heavily focused on major stunt sequences. Working alongside action director Ravi Verma, Deol has been filming intense car chases and fight scenes. In the film, he portrays a tough police officer determined to dismantle a powerful criminal syndicate. The actor is expected to complete his principal photography for Antony by October.
Once he wraps up Antony, Deol will transition to Ramayana: Part 2, directed by Nitesh Tiwari, where lead actor Ranbir Kapoor has already begun filming his scenes. While Deol makes a brief appearance as Lord Hanuman in the first installment, his role will expand significantly in the sequel to showcase major dramatic and action sequences.
Looking ahead, the team behind Jaat 2 aims to start production by December, though director Gopichand Malineni’s prior commitments may impact the timeline. By early next year, Deol is also scheduled to reunite with Rajkumar Santoshi for Ghatak Ghus Ke Maarega, keeping his lineup filled with high-profile action, mythology, and drama.
