Ananya Birla’s Birla Studios in Talks with Anees Bazmee, Shoojit Sircar, and Neeraj Pandey
Earlier this month, it was announced that Ananya Birla has launched a production house named Birla Studios, dedicated to creating films that blend commercial appeal with high-concept storytelling. Bollywood Hungama has learned that Ananya is currently in discussions with several renowned filmmakers to produce projects under her new banner.
A source revealed, “Ananya Birla has initiated talks with Anees Bazmee, Shoojit Sircar, Neeraj Pandey, among others. She admires the work of these filmmakers and believes they are the right fit to develop content for Birla Studios. Anees, Shoojit, and Neeraj have also been impressed with her vision, filmmaking insight, and passion for cinema.”
The source further added, “Discussions are ongoing, and if everything proceeds smoothly, Anees Bazmee, Shoojit Sircar, and Neeraj Pandey are expected to formally join the studio soon.” According to the official press release, Birla Studios is shaping a multi-language slate that includes Hindi, Gujarati, Malayalam, and other regional languages, along with international English-language cinema, reflecting its ambition to connect with audiences across cultures and borders.
The studio plans to announce its upcoming projects officially in the near future. At the launch of Birla Studios, Ananya Birla stated, “We are all stories. Currently, Anees Bazmee is busy shooting his next film starring Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan, Raashii Khanna, and others. Shoojit Sircar’s upcoming project is a mytho-horror film featuring Manoj Bajpayee, Rajkummar Rao, Vineet Kumar Singh, and Saurabh Shukla. Meanwhile, Neeraj Pandey’s latest film, Ghooskhor Pandat, was recently announced at the ‘Next on Netflix’ event.
Starring Manoj Bajpayee and directed by Ritesh Shah, this heist movie faced controversy when some groups alleged its title and promotional material were defamatory and communally offensive. The backlash led the makers and Netflix to remove the promotional content.
