Exclusive 15-Minute Footage of ‘Ramayana’ Stuns Industry Stakeholders at Big Cine Expo 2026
The annual Big Cine Expo brings together theater owners, equipment manufacturers, and key industry stakeholders to celebrate the cinema exhibition sector. Held on August 18 and 19 in Chennai, this year’s edition featured a major highlight on its opening day: an exclusive 15-minute preview of Nitesh Tiwari’s highly anticipated magnum opus, Ramayana.
The invite-only screening presented never-before-seen footage to a room of industry insiders under strict anti-piracy protocols. Mobile phones and recording devices were completely banned during the presentation. The extended showcase blended unreleased film scenes with behind-the-scenes insights, offering attendees a comprehensive look into the massive scale of the production.
According to an exhibitor present at the event, the preview focused heavily on the visual effects and world-building of the epic. The footage highlighted detailed mythical creatures, including prominent sequences featuring a one-eyed daitya and a bear-like creature. Attendees praised the grand imagination and technical execution of the visual effects, comparing the quality to large-scale Hollywood blockbusters like The Lord of the Rings.
The presentation also functioned as a making-of documentary, featuring quotes and commentary from producer Namit Malhotra. In the footage, Malhotra detailed his ambitious vision to elevate Indian cinema onto the global stage through world-class technology and storytelling. The 15-minute showcase concluded with the film’s official trailer, which originally debuted online on July 30.
Ramayana boasts a star-studded ensemble cast that includes Ranbir Kapoor, Yash, Sunny Deol, Sai Pallavi, Ravie Dubey, Rakul Preet Singh, and Lara Dutta. The period fantasy epic is structured as a two-part cinematic event. Part One is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on Diwali 2026, while Part Two will hit theaters on Diwali 2027.
