‘Chumbak’ Trailer: Neena Gupta, Deven Bhojani, and Arjun Bijlani Lead Chaotic Sitcom from ‘Sarabhai’ Creators
Netflix has released the official trailer for Chumbak, a vibrant new family comedy set in a bustling urban colony where personal space is non-existent and every small event turns into a neighborhood-wide discussion. Backed by Hats Off Production—the creators behind iconic sitcoms like Sarabhai vs Sarabhai and Khichdi—the series is written and directed by Aatish Kapadia, with Jamnadas (JD) Majethia and Kapadia producing.
The Premise & Ensemble Cast Chumbak explores the heartwarming chaos of an Indian neighborhood where neighbors function as extended family—offering unsolicited advice, endless gossip, and unexpected celebrations.
The extensive ensemble cast captures a colorful mix of eccentric personalities:
The Merchants: Neena Gupta (Rajni) and Deven Bhojani (Kuku), a bickering yet deeply affectionate couple.
The Oberois: Arjun Bijlani (Mickey) and Helly Shah (Twinkle), a romantic duo wrapped in their own dream world.
The Khannas: Sumeet Vyas (Aditya) and Manasi Parekh (Priyanka), who attempt to maintain a calm facade amidst neighborhood madness.
The Taraporewalas: Delnaaz Irani (Mumma Gulshan), Anant V. Joshi (Freddy), and Amyra Dastur (Hutoxi), driving unpredictable family comedy.
The Kejriwals: Sumeet Raghavan (Dharmendra) and Sandeepa Dhar (Kiran), offering a hilarious take on marital dynamics, while the featured cast for the film include Atul Kumar joins the chaotic colony lineup.
Creator & Platform Insights Tanya Bami, Series Head at Netflix India, highlighted the show’s nostalgic appeal, describing it as a celebration of neighborhood culture where everyday interactions spiral into relatable comedy.
In a joint statement, producers JD Majethia and Aatish Kapadia shared:
