Shahid Kapoor’s Film Holds Firm on December 5 Release Despite Competition

On July 6, Ranveer Singh’s birthday, it was revealed that his eagerly awaited film Dhurandhar is set to hit theaters on December 5, 2025. Just a week earlier, the makers of the big-budget Pan-India horror comedy The RajaSaab, featuring Prabhas, also announced a December 5 release date. This sparked speculation that Shahid Kapoor’s upcoming untitled project, directed by Vishal Bhardwaj, might shift its release to avoid clashing, possibly moving to the second Friday of January 2026.

However, Bollywood Hungama has confirmed that the makers of Shahid Kapoor’s film have no plans to change their release date and will stick firmly to December 5.A source shared with Bollywood Hungama, “The makers of Shahid Kapoor’s film were the first to secure the December 5 slot. Filming is progressing steadily and the project is shaping up well. Producer Sajid Nadiadwala is confident in the film and sees no reason to move from the date he originally reserved.”

An industry insider further noted, “Sajid Nadiadwala’s decision to hold onto December 5 reflects his strong belief in the film. The cast is compelling, with Shahid Kapoor joined by Triptii Dimri, Nana Patekar, and Randeep Hooda. The film promises to carry Vishal Bhardwaj’s distinctive creative touch while also including commercial elements that appeal to a wide audience. Additionally, being a Vishal Bhardwaj project, it is expected to feature soulful music, making it a must-watch on the big screen.”

In recent years, the first Friday of December has become a coveted release window. Blockbusters like Animal and Sam Bahadur launched on this date, achieving notable box office success. In 2024, Pushpa 2 also premiered globally on December 5, becoming a massive hit. Whether Shahid Kapoor-Vishal Bhardwaj’s untitled film, Dhurandhar, and The RajaSaab will continue this winning trend remains to be seen.
