Yash Chopra 90th Birth Anniversary: From Ranveer Singh to Bhumi Pednekar actors who got their breakthrough from YRF and became one the biggest names in the industry
The Yash Chopra style, which presented romance, emotion, stories of super-elites, melodious music, and songs recorded in exotic foreign places, formerly ruled the box office. Over the course of his five-decade, the Bollywood filmmaker and producer has had a string of box office successes that have earned him cult status.
Yash Chopra, one of India’s greatest and most famous directors of the Indian cinema business and the king of romance, has helped launch the careers of several prominent stars of the Hindi film industry, including Amitabh Bachchan and Shahrukh Khan. Some of the greatest 90s actresses, including Sridevi, Preity Zinta, Rani Mukherji, and Kajol, rose to fame with YRF. Known for his fairytale-like romances, the filmmaker is responsible for some of Hindi cinema’s most memorable films, including Chandni, Veer Zara, Kabhi Kabhie, and Waqt.
Yash Chopra’s lasting legacy, Yash Raj Films, influenced an entire generation of filmmakers. On the 90th birth anniversary of the filmmaker, here are a few names of actors who were introduced by the YRF and went on to become A-list stars:
Anushka Sharma:
The actress was one of the first significant stars to make her debut in a YRF film, Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, opposite Shahrukh Khan and directed by Aditya Chopra. Later, Anushka appeared in YRF films like Ladies vs. Ricky Bahl, Jab Tak Hai Jaan, Sultan, and Sui Dhaaga: Made in India.
Ranveer Singh:
He made his breakthrough as the lead in Band Baaja Baaraat, alongside Anushka Sharma. He went on to portray lead parts in more YRF films such as Ladies Vs Ricky Bahl, Gunday, and Kill Dil.
Parineeti Chopra:
She made her YRF debut in Ladies vs Ricky Bahl. She has appeared in several YRF films, including Shuddh Desi Romance, Daawat-e-Ishq, Meri Pyaari Bindu, and her most recent, Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar.

Arjun Kapoor:
In Ishaqzaade, he played Parma, the male protagonist opposite Parineeti Chopra. The actor has also appeared in YRF films like Aurangzeb, Gunday, and his most recent, Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar.
Bhumi Pednekar:
She worked as Shanoo’s previous assistant and auditioned for YRF’s Dum Laga Ke Haisha. Bhumi was cast in the lead role alongside Ayushmann Khurrana. The actor was instructed to add a significant amount of weight for the role of Ayushmann’s plus-sized wife. Bhumi hasn’t appeared in a YRF film since her debut, but the part cemented her reputation as an A-list actress.
