Possible signs and symptoms include a lump, abnormal bleeding, prolonged cough, unexplained weight loss, and a change in bowel movements. Many Bollywood celebrities have battled cancer in their lives, and although some have succumbed to it, others have fought and won the battle. So, in honor of this day, here are some Bollywood celebs that have battled cancer:
1. Sonali Bendre:
Sonali Bendre Behl is an Indian actress and model who has primarily worked in Hindi films, alongside Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Marathi language films. She has won several awards, including a Filmfare Award. The 46-year-old actress was diagnosed with metastatic cancer in July 2018. When she did talk about her diagnosis, she kept it raw and real, going so far as to share a photo of herself bald – due to the treatment.
2. Rakesh Roshan:
Rakesh Roshan is an Indian film producer, director, screenwriter, and actor who works in Hindi films was diagnosed with throat cancer in 2018, has said that he knew he was gravely ill even before the tests proved it. He said that his recovery has been aided by the fact that he is mentally strong.
3. Manisha Koirala:
Manisha Koirala is a Nepalese actress who is known for her work in Indian films, predominantly in Hindi and Tamil languages. She was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2012, recovered from the disease a few years back. She launched her autobiography – Healed: How Cancer Gave Me A New Life – on January 8, 2018, in Mumbai. She opened up about her ordeal with cancer and emerging as a survivor in her book.
4. Tahira Kashyap:
Tahira Kashyap is a director and writer and she is the wife of well-known actor Ayushmann Khurrana. She was diagnosed with breast cancer in September 2018. She decided to document it to inspire the world.
5. Anurag Basu:
Anurag Basu is an Indian director, screenwriter, actor and producer. He began his directing career in television, moving to feature films in 2002. He was once diagnosed with leukemia – he beat the disease and has often spoken about how it influenced his art.
