Vidyut Jammwal Backs Kunal Kamra, Criticizes Kamaal R Khan for ‘Spreading Hate While Seeking Refuge’

Actor Vidyut Jammwal has expressed his support for stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra, who recently faced legal action for his satirical comments regarding Maharashtra’s political landscape. Taking to social media, Jammwal shared a thought-provoking post referencing the Bhagavad Gita and questioned the selective outrage directed at comedians, while individuals like Kamaal R Khan (KRK), known for his derogatory remarks about India and women, remain unchecked.
In his post, Jammwal included a video featuring Kunal Kamra alongside some unfavorable comments made by KRK in the past. He quoted Gita Chapter 2, Verse 31: “स्वधर्ममपि चावेक्ष्य न विकम्पितुमर्हसि। धर्म्याद्धि युद्धाच्छ्रेयोऽन्यत् क्षत्रियस्य न विद्यते॥” which translates to: “Kshatriya, you should not waver, for there is nothing more auspicious for a warrior than a ‘RIGHTEOUS WAR.’” He pointed out, “Here is a man taking refuge outside the country, drawing attention by spewing venom against the nation and, even worse, our women. No one questions his intent or mobilizes against him.

Yet, we hold a stand-up comedian accountable for evoking strong emotions through his act. Are we prioritizing the rights of politicians over our nation and our women?”Jammwal’s post gained significant traction, with several celebrities voicing their support. Producer Ektaa R Kapoor remarked, “Those who follow him enable him! Good on you for calling him out!” Singer Mansi Scott added, “Well said, Vidyut Jammwal,” while actress Devoleena Bhattacharjee responded with hands-up emojis.
Actress Richa Chadha, who has previously taken legal action against KRK, commented, “I took him to court. Why can’t others?”The controversy began when Kunal Kamra performed a parody song at Mumbai’s Habitat Comedy Club, referring to an unnamed politician as a ‘gaddar’ (traitor). Although no names were explicitly mentioned, members of the Shiv Sena took offense, interpreting it as an insult to Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. This led to legal action against Kamra, igniting a debate over freedom of speech. Jammwal’s post, along with the growing support from fellow celebrities, has reignited discussions on selective accountability, questioning why figures like Kamaal R Khan can continue making inflammatory statements without facing similar consequences.
