Varun Dhawan & Atlee to team up for the Hindi remake of a South movie? Read here!
The collaboration between the Hindi and South film industries appears to be growing. According to reports in ETimes, Varun Dhawan and Atlee are planning to collaborate on a thriller film. While no official confirmation has been provided, the reports suggest that the project could be Atlee’s own film Theri.
Vijay and Samantha Ruth Prabhu originally appeared in the 2016 drama thriller. The rumor is that Atlee would direct the Hindi adaption, with Varun Dhawan as the lead. A source revealed to the publication, “Varun has met Atlee and they will soon be working together on the Hindi remake of a South film. There’s a good chance that the film may be Vijay and Samantha starrer ‘Theri’.”
According to reports, Varun Dhawan was approached for the remake of Theri a few years back. It seems that the idea is finally coming together.
Atlee is now in production on a film with Shah Rukh Khan. On the other hand, Varun Dhawan has a large lineup for the next two years. The actor will appear in two films in 2022: Jug Jugg Jeeyo and Bhediya.
According to reports by Pinkvilla, Varun will star in a Rajkumar Hirani production. “Varun has done multiple meetings with Rajkumar Hirani over the last few months, and both have shown keen interest in the collaboration. It’s a typical slice of life film based on a true story written by Rajkumar Hirani himself and will go on floors in 2022,” a source had told Pinkvilla in December. Aside from Hirani’s next, Varun is also in talks to star in an action thriller film helmed by Mohit Suri. Sriram Raghavan’s Ekkis is also in his kitty.
