Bio – She may have claimed an easy entry into the Hindi film industry thanks to her star father Shatrughan Sinha. But the pretty girl who started modeling before entering films is now known for her own talent. Her debut film was one of the biggest hits of Bollywood. Salman Khan castes in Dabang in 2010 and Sonakshi became an overnight star. Unlike other eye candy roles Sonakshi played a potential role and impressed the audience. She went on to win Filmfare best female debut. Dabang was the sensation of the season and also figures in one of the highest grosser of all time.
Born on 2 June 1987, Sonakshi is the youngest child of the actor couple Shatrughan Sinha and Poonam Sinha. She has two twin brothers elder to her namely Luv and Kush Sinha both of whom have tried their luck in Hindi films. Sonakshi graduated in Fashion Designing before taking to modeling. After Dabang established her as a star, she appeared in films like Rowdy Rathod and Son of Sardar . Both these films were highly commercially successful and the actress came to be known as a lucky charm for the masala films. What followed was a series of masala Bollywood entertainers in which she was paired with star actors like Akshay Kuamr, Saif Ali Khan, Salman Khan and Ajay Devgan. She was noticed for her sharp facial features and powerful acting. Her acting and Dancing were noted to be flawless and her special appearances were also impaction. Sonakshi’s dancing in Prabhu Deva’s OMG in the Govinda song showed her in beautiful dance moves matching feet to feet with the veteran dancer Prabhu Deva himself.
Dabang, Raawdy Rathod, Joker, Son of Sardar, Dabang 2; in all these films Sonakshi was seen playing arm candy to the actors. There rose the comment that the actress has religiously stuck to commercial masala cinema and her acting has not improved any bit. The criticism found a halt when Lootera happened in August 2013. Vikram Aditya Motwane signed her for the role of Pakhi Ray choudhary, a loveable daughter of a landlord. Sonakshi struck gold with the film and won appreciation from all quarters. The film was half periodic and half love story and the actress blossomed both with her beauty and her acting skills. Later, the actress appeared in Once upon A time in Mumbai, Bullet Rajja and r. Rajkumar. She is currently working on Action Jackson.
