Drishyam 2: Ajay Devgn talks about remake culture in Bollywood, “The film has been treated in a different manner”
Ajay Devgn has released a riveting teaser for his forthcoming film ‘Drishyam 2’, in which he resumes his quest to safeguard his family. The first installment, which was a remake of a Malayalam film of the same name, was released in 2015.
The developers have pledged to tweak the story in the sequel. Ajay offered his thoughts on the remake tendency in relation to ‘Drishyam 2’. “The film has been treated in a different manner. There are a lot of changes, you won’t see Akshaye’s character in the original. You will feel, this is a fresh film.” Director Abhishek Pathak also assured, “We took 7 months to rewrite the film. We have made a lot of changes and retained the essence.” ‘Drishyam 2’ will also include Akshaye Khanna, Tabu, and Shriya Saran in key roles, in addition to Ajay. He revealed on reuniting with his ‘Deewangee’ co-star, “Casting I think Abhishek decided but it is always fun. We share a great rapport also. It is always great to work with a good actor because good actors bring out the best in you also. We needed somebody like. So yes, it’s really great!”
The Hindi version, starring Ajay, was a remake of the 2013 Malayalam film of the same name, which starred Mohanlal.
In the successful 2015 film ‘Drishyam,’ Ajay’s character Vijay convinced everyone that their family had gone on vacation, which turned out to be a brilliant plot to spare his family from a murder conviction. In the sequel, Ajay will reprise one of his most interesting roles and continue in Vijay’s shoes. The plot unfolds a trip that leaves the spectator wondering what his way out could be this time.
The film, directed by Abhishek Pathak and starring Ishita Dutta, Akshaye Khanna, Rajat Kapoor, and Shriya Saran, is planned to enter theatres on November 18, 2022.
Drishyam 2 will compete at the box office with Anubhav Sinha’s ‘Bheed,’ which stars Rajkummar Rao and Bhumi Pednekar.
