S.S. Rajamouli’s Film Starring Mahesh Babu and Priyanka Chopra Officially Titled Varanasi

Following the massive success of Baahubali: The Epic—a combined re-release of Baahubali: The Beginning (2015) and Baahubali 2: The Conclusion (2017)—director S.S. Rajamouli is now focused on his next ambitious project featuring Mahesh Babu, Priyanka Chopra, and Prithviraj Sukumaran. While the film was previously known by the working title SSMB29 or rumored as Globetrotter, Bollywood Hungama has learned that the official title has been finalized as Varanasi.

A trusted source revealed, “The title Varanasi was secured after the team successfully acquired the rights, which were previously held by someone else. The title perfectly fits the film’s story, so they were very eager to name it Varanasi.”Excitement is building as a grand launch event is scheduled for November 15 at Ramoji Rao Film City in Hyderabad.

Director S.S. Rajamouli, stars Mahesh Babu, Priyanka Chopra, and Prithviraj Sukumaran, along with key crew members including Oscar-winning music composer M.M. Keeravani, are expected to attend. Fans will have an opportunity to witness the event live as it will be streamed on JioHotstar.Varanasi marks Rajamouli’s immediate follow-up to the global blockbuster RRR (2022), which starred Ram Charan and Jr NTR. RRR became a worldwide sensation, celebrated for its gripping storytelling, powerful performances, and memorable music—particularly the song “Naatu Naatu,” which won the Best Original Song Oscar at the 95th Academy Awards.
