THROWBACK: Arijit Singh’s one comeback to Salman Khan lost him 3 big projects!

Arijit Singh has had a difficult career, thanks in part to his bravery in mincing with Salman Khan. He didn’t mean to, but his one-line response cost him not one, but three films. With songs in films like Kick 2, Bajrangi Bhaijaan, and Sultan scheduled, the singer must be on cloud nine, but it all went to hell over one error (but was it really?).

It all happened in 2014 at an award show that Salman Khan appeared to be presenting. Arijit Singh was completely messed up while working on a tune for composer Pritam Chakraborty. He was dressed casually, with chappals on his feet.

Salman Khan wasn’t impressed with the sights when Arijit Singh took the stage that night. In reality, he ended up criticising the performer, saying, “Tu hai winner (You are the winner)?” Not only that, but he was also wondering if the Jaan Nisaar vocalist had fallen asleep.

When Arijit Singh chose to return it, he replied, “Aap logon ne sula diya” (You all made me sleep). As one might assume, this did not sit well with Salman Khan, who appeared to take a damage to his ego.

On the text, Arijit even apologised to Salman, and while the celebrity may have appeared to forgive him, things were far from over in reality.

In Kick 2, he lost the song he sung with Meet Brothers. In Bajrangi Bhaijaan, he was refused a role. What’s the worst of it all? Rahat Fateh Ali Khan replaced him in Sultan’s version of ‘Jag Ghoomeya.’ Salman Khan made things a lot more difficult for the singer. Arijit Singh even sent an open letter to the superstar on Facebook, which he later removed.
