Priyanka Chopra Jonas Joins Oscar-Shortlisted Film “Anuja” as Executive Producer

Bollywood-turned-global icon Priyanka Chopra Jonas has added another achievement to her illustrious career by stepping in as an executive producer for the Oscar-shortlisted short film Anuja. Directed by Adam J. Graves, the film centers around a 9-year-old girl named Anuja, who navigates life working in a back-alley garment factory alongside her sister, Palak. Having premiered at the DeadCenter Film Festival, Anuja has already earned a place on the 2025 Academy Awards shortlist in the live-action short film category.

What is Anuja About?

Anuja tells a poignant story of childhood resilience and sacrifice. The narrative follows Anuja as she faces a life-changing decision that will impact both her future and her family’s well-being. The film is produced by Suchitra Mattai and collaborates with the Salaam Baalak Trust (SBT), a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting street and working children, along with Shine Global, known for its Oscar-winning films.In a statement reported by Variety, Priyanka expressed her thoughts on the film: “This beautiful film shines a spotlight on a subject that affects millions of children globally, who must confront the impossible decision between an unseen future and the harsh realities of their current lives. A Star-Studded Team Behind the Film

In addition to Priyanka, Anuja features a talented team, including Oscar winner Guneet Monga Kapoor as an executive producer and Mindy Kaling as a producer. The lead role of Anuja is portrayed by Sajda Pathan, who draws from her own experiences of surviving on the streets of Delhi before receiving support from the Salaam Baalak Trust. Director Adam J.
