Review

The film in plain terms is a gripping biopic film but soon turns into an emotional drama to turn into a captive one over the silver screen. The interesting story of a wrestler transforming his two daughters into professional wrestler who win medals at Common Wealth Games is incredible thing to check as it makes you to get the smile, cry and laugh making you glued to your seats allowing very small amounts of loo breaks till the end. In the first half, you can find the film to be simply flawless with stunning performances. The director has ensured that the audience gets connected easily to the film with the story of the two young ladies’ transformation.

The story doesn’t really beat the bush and thus one can find loads of sports drama in it like the sports politics which ruin careers of aspiring and well deserving candidates and many other things. One can barely find anything vague or weird thing in the first half making a win-win thing for the makers and the audience. The second half too is interesting to catch has the real crux of the film in the same. The father and daughter relationships found in the film gets an emotional edge and it would be interesting to see how the situations change between the two sisters and the way they are seen tapped over the same. The second half of the movie is more about the cinematic thing with loads of wrestling in it as the grown up girls now play the tournaments and other things.

Star performances

The physical transformation of Aamir Khan getting 30 kgs extra speaks volumes about the actor’s seriousness about any character he plays. He has skillfully adjusted himself into the given character of Mahavir and it is rare to see him in such an avatar.  This can be called as his best performances in the recent years. At the same time can be commendable the way he has taken his story into stride and securing the center stage with his incredible performance. On the other side, Sakshi Tanwar is a new name at silver screen but her performance vouch for a perfect choice for this character. She is extremely good in her emotions and every scene has its own delight. Now talking about the young ladies like Zaira and Suhani, they have been revelation to many and have tried their best to look like a professional wrestler. In other words, they have played their characters so well over the silver screen and so were the younger Geeta and Babita.

Direction, Music and other elements

Nitesh Tiwari is popular for his films like Bhoonahnathand Chillar Party but his debut attempt to try a sports biopic has proved that he can be a versatile filmmaker provided he gets a good script. The movie seems to come simple over the eyes of the audience, thanks to the dexterous filmmaking ideas of the director. He has given a perfect screenplay and dialogues which together help in getting a decent film. There are many scenes and sequences that play a vital role in speaking a lot about the movie. Similar is the case of director of photography which has captured the right regional accent. The scenes have perfectly shot by the photographer. He has captured the fights the best of the ways. Talking about the music , Pritam has tried to blend the music in a perfect way inside the movie, while the title track seems very much energy booster and incredibly superb.

Dangal The Last

The film Dangal has much to offer, right from getting the inspiring tale to emotional sage and spellbinding. The film Dangal has a perfect first and the second half with gripping story, incredible performances and other elements that make the film interesting and worth watching. Once again Aamir has proved that he is not only Mr. Perfectionist in his character play but for other things as well.

Rating – 4.5
