Actor Tisca Chopra trolled for sharing Indonesian weightlifter’s picture while congratulating Mirabai Chanu

Indian Weightlifter Mirabai Chanu made the whole nation proud when she created history by winning the Silver Medal in the 49 kg category, ending India’s 21-year wait in the Tokyo Olympics. Mirabai Chanu is also India’s first athlete to win a medal from the Indian contingent at the ongoing Olympic Games.

Her remarkable achievement made not only the nation proud but also the Bollywood industry. The whole social media is flooded by her pictures to congratulate her.

Several celebrities including AR Rahman, Mahesh Babu, Kunal Kemmu and Riteish Deshmukh among others congratulated the Indian weightlifter on social media.

Actor Tisca Chopra was also amongst the one praising the weightlifter. However, her tweet came into focus when people noticed that she put the wrong picture in her post.

As soon as Mirabai Chanu won the Silver she took to her social media handle and wrote, “You make us proud girl! @mirabai_chanu #Tokyo2021 #Olympics2021 #indiaattheolympics.” Tisca mistakenly posted an Indonesian weightlifter Aisah Windy Cantika’s photo who won the bronze medal.

One user wrote, “She is not even Mirabai. She is the Indonesian lifter who won bronze.” While another said, “Putting the wrong image for a national hero is so disrespectful.”

After she realised her mistake she penned an apology on Twitter saying, “Glad you guys had fun! That was a genuine mistake, am so sorry .. still doesn’t mean I am not proud of @mirabai_chanu
at the #TokyoOlympics .. and of the rest of our contingent.”
