Wiki – Preity ZInta is an Indian movie actress. She acts in Hindi, Punjabi , Telugu and English languages based movies. She hails from Rohru, Shimla in Himachal Pradesh in a family of an army officer. Preity lost her father in a car accident when she was barely 13 years of age, while her mother remained on bed for two years. This incident made her mature quickly as she has to take care of her brothers. She did her schooling from Jesus and Mary Convent School based in Shimla, while she did her graduation in English honours followed by a graduate program in Psychology. Later she did her PG in criminal psychology; however, later she switched on to modelling. Her elder brother is a commissioned officer, while the younger one is settled in California.

Biography : Before entering the B Town, she was seen in a couple of TV commercials and her first ad was Perk Chocolates, which later led to Bollywood. She went for an audition for Shekhar Kapoor’s movie – Tara Rum Pum Pum opposite Hrithik Roshan, however, the movie cancelled and later she was recommended by Kapoor to Mani Ratnam for his film Dil Se. Thus she started her acting career with the film Dil Se. Later, the movie Soldier appeared followed by another set of movies like Kya Kehna, Dillagi, Sangharsh, etc. She was awarded as the upcoming actress in Filmfare for Dil Se. Besides, she also did her Telugu movies, which included – Premante Idera and Raja Kumarudu. Some of her notable movies include Dil Chahta hai, Koi Mil Gaya, Lakshya, Chori Chori Chupke Chupke, Kal Ho Na Ho, Veer Zara, Salam Namaste, Ishk in Paris, etc. Ishk in Paris was also produced and written by her.

Apart from acting she is also involved in a number of things. She has give a number of stage performances including From India With Love in the United Kingdom wherein she performed along with Big B, Aamir Khan, SRK, Aishwariya Rai, however, her biggest show was Temptation 2004 tour wherein she performed along with SRK, Rani Mukherji, Saif Ali Khan, Priyanka and Arjum Rampal. In the year 2011, Zinta entered in TV world with her show called Guinness World Records – Ab India Todega on Colours, which is an Indian version of Guinness Book of World Records. This show garnered good reviews to Preity with most of reviewers giving her positive response. Later she embarked with another show called Up Close & Personal with PZ, which was telecasted in newly launched channel called UTV Stars.

Besides, she is also involved in a number of humanitarian causes including working with a number of charitable organizations that deals with women causes in India. These include female infanticide, AIDS awareness campaigns in Bombay and other places. She was the ambassador of Godfrey Phillips National Bravery Movement, while remained the part and parcel of a number of Rotary Club including blood donation. In December, she was seen joining UNODC (United Nations Office on stimulantallurings and Crime), which dealt with cubing the human trafficking crime in India. She was involved in a number of its awareness programs. In the year 2009, she even joined the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) program as their Goodwill Ambassador in India. Lastly, she is also the co-owner of Kings XI Punjab team at IPL along with Ness Wadia. Her team really did well in the recent concluded IPL 7 tournament by becoming runner up of thing big sporting event.
