Param Sundari Release Delayed to Avoid Crowded Romantic Film Slate
Earlier reports indicated that the romantic drama Param Sundari, starring Sidharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor, was postponed from its original July 25 release date to avoid clashing with Son of Sardaar 2. However, insider sources now reveal that the delay was also motivated by the packed release calendar, with several romantic films lined up in the weeks ahead.
According to industry insiders, the makers of Param Sundari made a strategic choice to postpone the release to steer clear of a direct box office battle with two other major romantic dramas—Anurag Basu’s Metro…In Dino and Mohit Suri’s Saiyaara. To complicate matters further, Dhadak 2 is also scheduled to release on August 1, making the early August window highly congested. A source close to the project explained, “Param Sundari has its own unique voice. With two romantic dramas releasing back-to-back, the makers didn’t want it to be lost among similar stories.
They believed the film would benefit from some breathing room.” The new release window for Param Sundari is expected to be either August 29 or September 5, offering the film a clearer space to shine and better visibility at the box office. The team is also using this extra time wisely. Another source shared, “A fresh promotional song is planned to be shot closer to the new release date, once Sidharth completes his current projects and adjusts to his new role as a father.”
Directed by Dasvi filmmaker Tushar Jalota, Param Sundari tells a heartfelt, cross-cultural love story between a young man from North India and a woman from South India.
