Just when the Nawazuddin Siddiqui-Athiya Shetty starrer film Motichoor Chaknachoor is all set to hit the screens this Friday clashing with Marjavaan, the director of this film Debamitra Biswal seems to be making news for a wrong reason. She has been accused of getting into a fraud of 32 lakhs as she tried to sell the rights of this film to one of the distributors in Bihar.
As per reports, there is a rumor that the lady filmmaker has taken 32 lakhs from a Bihar based distributor and thus indulged in the fraud for selling the rights directly to him without even having the authority for the same. As per a petition filed in a sub court in Saran area of Chapra in Bihar (Suit no 855 of 2019), the lady has admitted of selling the rights of the film and squeezing the money fraudulently, without even informing the makers or the studio involved in the film.
The petitioner has also claimed that this whole episode of selling off the rights to the Bihar based distributor happened in the presence of Athiya Shetty who is the leading lady of the film opposite Nawazuddin Siddiqui. As per reports, the makers are now going to take legal action against the lady filmmaker both by the production house and the studio. The film is produced by Woodpecker Movies, Viacom18 Studios, Rajesh and Kiran Bhatia. The legal team of the production house claim that this matter is a clear issue of fraud and that they are investigating the matter.
