National Cinema Day: This time on Sept 23. Know what’s in store for you!

National Cinema Day, which was was celebrated on September 16 all these years, got postponed due to the release of Brahmastra. Moviegoers can grab the opportunity to watch movies in theatres for just Rs. 75 on this day. This day is usually a ‘Thank you to movie enthusiasts, but this time it is also a warm welcome to people who haven’t returned to theatres since the COVID-19 pandemic.

On this special occasion, millions of moviegoers and film enthusiasts will possibly attend the first ever National Cinema Day, scheduled for this Friday, September 23, for the very first time. It will occupy around 4000 big screens all over the country with effective discounts, as per top officials.

Under the initiative of MAI (Multiplex Association of India), film buffs will have to pay just 75 rupees per ticket to watch the movie of their choice. Besides this, there will be other special surprises for them.

Here’s what MAI president and PVR CEO said

MAI president and CEO of PVR, Kamal Gianchandani, said, “From around 11000 screens (in multiplexes and singles) in the country, 4000 screens will be there for the first-ever NCD. This will be to welcome customers back to the cinema hall.

Gianchandani told news agency IANS, “There are 400 average seats per auditorium, for a total of around 4 million seats for filmgoers, They will participate in National Cinema Day with nearly 16, 000 seats.”

He further added, “Movie screens like PVR, INOZ, Carnival, Cinepolis, Miraj, Asian, City Pride, Mukta, A2, Movietime, Wave, M2k, Delite and some single screen operators across the country are going to participate.”

What’s in store for you on this National Cinema Day?

Some big blockbuster movies like KGF2, RRR, Bhool Bhoolaiya 2, Vikram, Doctor Strange, Top Gun Maverick and others will be shown on this day. Gianchandani also said that the multiplexes will make different offers to attract viewers of all age groups. However, he refused to divulge any further details right now.
