Blessed with one of the best bikini bodies in Bollywood, actress turned model Nargis Fakhri is a fitness freak. In her recent interview in Filmfare magazine, Nargis revealed the health mantras she would swear by.

Right from her early modeling days, Nargis believed in eating right and exercising appropriately for a great body as also to keep diseases at bay. She takes up many fitness activities from Zumba dance moves to yoga and cycling in order to keep her muscles toned. The 34 year old actress takes delight in outdoor games like tennis and swimming and hiking too.

Nargis begins her day with a glass of lukewarm water with lemon juice in it. Half an hour later, around 8.30, she has a cup of coffee with soy milk and Manuka honey. This is followed by a gluten free multigrain toast and two eggs fries at 9.00 a.m. At 11 a.m. , she takes coconut water, chia seeds, green plant powder and a half banana smoothie. She follows it up with Zucchini pasta with homemade avocado garlic sauce at 1.00 p.m. At 2.30. , nuts and Goji berries or crackers keep her full. Next at 4.00 p.m. , she gorges on stir fry mixed vegetables like broccoli, carrots and potatoes with quinoa. At 7.00 p.m. , she has yellow dal and mixed vegetables.

Nargis takes her dinner before 7.00 p.m. and never eats after that. She follows sleep hygiene religiously and goes to bed at around 9.30. She tries different forms of work out from cardios to kick boxing. She keeps the music on while practicing these exercises. She suggests that working out in nature’s company is even better. Hiking or trekking does wonders to her body and mind. Yoga is her favourite form of exercise because it involves the whole body and the mind and the spirit.

When the Rockstar actress, has her lazy days in work outs, she simply puts on a Zumba DVD and starts with it to motivate herself. She goes for detoxification sessions to natural destinations like Thailand and Kerala. Soon she is planning to take a get away trip to Kerala and learn Kalaripayattu, a form of ancient martial arts.

This former Kingfisher Calender girl, does not believe in taking any artificial nutrients. She relies on protein sources like eggs , beans, dals and leafy vegetables. She avoids Salt and Sugar available in the market. She takes Manuka honey , which comes from manuka tree as a sweetner and pink salt or Himalayan salt.

Detox is an important part of her regime. Taking lemon juice with warm water helps in eliminating unnecessary materials from the body. She also takes turmeric drinks to eliminate metallic toxins from the body. Consuming two to three litres of water a day also helps detoxification.

She believes in taking simply measures for fitness like taking steps in place of elevators. She says, “ Good circulation and happy hormones keep the body healthy and balanced. “

Nargis is quite an inspiration for youngsters who are trying to develop a fitness regime.
