Wiki – Mohit Chauhan is a popular Indian singer, who has worked as a playback singer for a number of Bollywood movies. He is the former the front man of a Indipop band called Silk Route. He hails frm Nahan, Himachal Pradesh in 1966 and speaks Hindi, Pahari and English. He did his schooling from St. Xavier Delhi and returned to his home state to compete his graduation and Masters in Geology from Dharamshala College of Himachal Pradesh. He has been awarded with a number of awards and recognition for his playback singing from all the major award platforms including Screen and Filmfare.
Biography : As far as his career is concerned, he never had any formal training in singing. He did his debut in Indian Cinema with the movie Road called Pehli Nazar Mein Dari Thi. Also, he was the part of an Indipop music band called Silk Route and embarked with two albums called Boodein and Pehchan. His song – Dooba Dooba became a hit, giving him recognition in Indian Cinema. Later the band dissolved making him to go off the screen for a while but soon he returned with his song Guncha in 2005 for the movie called “Main, Meri Patni Aur Woh”. Impressed by his composition A R Rahman gave him the chance to sing a song from the movie Rang De Basanti and later Pritam approached him for the song Tum Se Hi from Jab We Met, which gave him a huge recognition in the industry.

He did playback singing for a couple of movies including Delhi 6, New York, Love Aaj Kal, Kaminey, etc. He was awarded for best male playback singing for the song Masakali for the movie – Delhi 6. His other big time hit songs include Pee Loon from Once Upon A Time in Mumbai and Bheegi Si from Raajneeti. The other songs included Yun Hi from Tanu Weds Manu and Tujhe Bhula Diya from Anjana Anjaani. However, the year 2011 was another big turning point from him, wherein he got the chance to play a number of songs in the blockbuster movie Rockstar for which he was even awarded for the playback singing category in Filmfare and other award functions.
He has a long list of awards, which he has got for different songs from Rockstar. Aprt from singing in Hindi, he also sung a couple of songs in Bengali and one Tamil Song as well. He also appears in different ads from brands like Alpenlibe, Wheel (detergent), Parachute, Hippo Munchies, Nescafe, Alchemist, Maruti Suzuki Alto (2011) and Vicks Vapor Rub. He has performed at a number of film festivals and carnivals made people enjoy his songs though his beautiful vocal skills.
