Mirzapur The Movie passed with ‘A’ certificate; has a run time of 3 hours and 17 minutes; goes the Animal, Dhurandhar The Revenge way
The film trade and movie lovers are eagerly waiting for the release of Mirzapur: The Movie next week. It is a rare case in Indian cinema where a popular web series is being adapted into a feature film. The film’s producers, Excel Entertainment, headed by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani, completed the censor process ahead of time. The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) passed the movie today, August 29, confirming that it has a runtime of over three hours.
According to details on the official CBFC website, the film has a total duration of 197 minutes and 19 seconds, which equals 3 hours, 17 minutes, and 19 seconds. Since the original Mirzapur series is famous for its heavy violence and strong language, the film was granted an ‘A’ (Adults Only) certificate.
Mirzapur: The Movie fits right into the current trend of long, action-heavy films released in recent years. This trend picked up with Animal (2023), which ran for 3 hours and 23 minutes. Other long releases followed, such as The Bengal Files (2025) at 3 hours and 24 minutes, Pushpa 2 – The Rule (2024) at 3 hours and 20 minutes, Dhurandhar (2025) at 3 hours and 34 minutes, and its sequel Dhurandhar The Revenge (2026) at 3 hours and 49 minutes.
Several other big titles this year have crossed the three-hour mark. Border 2 came in at 3 hours and 19 minutes, while the Marathi version of Raja Shivaji was 3 hours and 15 minutes long. Additionally, Toxic, which released on August 26, lasted 3 hours and 14 minutes.
Releasing in theaters on September 4, Mirzapur: The Movie features a massive star cast including Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal, Divyenndu, Jitendra Kumar, Abhishek Banerjee, Rasika Dugal, Mohitt Malik, Sheeba Chadha, Rajesh Tailang, Shriya Pilgaonkar, Harshita Shekhar Gaur, Shweta Tripathi, Sonal S Chauhan, Anangsha Biswas, Shaji Choudhary, Sushant Singh, and Ravi Kishan.
