Bhool Bhulaiyaa starring Akshay Kumar and Vidya Balan was simply epic, the film still has a cult fan base. Now released Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 starring Kartik Aaryan is also doing extremely well at the box office.
Now in the recent update it has been confirmed by the producers of Bhool Bhulaiyaa– Bhushan Kumar and Murad Khetani — that the franchise will certainly be taken forward. Now only this they also confirmed that Shahid Kapoor’s 2019 film, Kabir Singh, is also likely to turn into a franchise.
The second instalment of Bhool Bhulaiyaa, directed by Anees Bazmee, was recently released in theatres, and audiences have heaped praise on the film. Along with Kartik Aaryan the film also stars Kiara Advani, and Tabu.
Recently while a news portal asked Bhushan Kumar, which projects should be turned into franchises, he said, “I think, our film Kabir Singh can definitely be spun into a franchise. It’s an iconic character and can be taken into a second part. ”
Murad Khetani also stated that the characters are so well-liked. He went on to say that he’d love it if Bhushan made Aashiqui 3 soon.
“We are definitely taking the Bhool Bhulaiyaa franchise forward. There is enough scope in the premise and we will announce more details at the right time,” the report quoted them as saying.
Within six days of its release, Kartik’s Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 earned 84.78 crore at the box office. Among Hindi releases this year, it had one of the highest opening weekends.
Ahead of the film release, Kartik had told PTI, “It is the most difficult thing to make a sequel because the writers have to present it in a new way and yet retain the element of the original movie. The scale in which it was made, it’s much larger and wider. We are hopeful a lot of families will come and watch it. This is a different and new story. It is not a remake, it is a sequel, which has a new story, set in the world of ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa’, which will make people nostalgic.”
The original Bhool Bhulaiyaa film was released in 2007. Priyadarshan directed the film, which was a remake of the 1993 Malayalam film Manichitrathazhu and starred Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan, and Shiney Ahuja in lead roles.
The 2019 film Kabir Singh was also a remake of the Telugu film Arjun Reddy and starred Kiara alongside Shahid. It was directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga and was a box office smash.
