List of Nominations for the 13th Indian Film Festival of Melbourne

The 13th season of the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne is approaching and several movies including ‘Badhaai Do’, Gangubai Kathiawadi,  Jai Bhim, and a few others have been nominated for the best film award. 

This film festival presented by the Government of Victoria is an annual fest organised in Melbourne in Australia. All the content-rich and praise-worth movies from India and the subcontinent are portrayed here. The festival is inching closer and will take place from August 12 to 20 this year. Not to miss, the award night will be on August 14 when all the actors and filmmakers will be present.

Some big names on the nominee’s list include lead actors and filmmakers from various movies. Some of them are:

Suriya’s ‘Jai Bhim’

Konkana Sen & Arjun Rampal’s ‘The Rapist’

Aliya Bhatt’s ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’

Ranveer-Deepika’s ‘83’

Rajkumar Rao’s ‘Badhaai Do’

Vicky Kaushal’s ‘Sardar Udham’

The indie movies nomination list involves some top-rated and highly praised films like ‘Retro’, ‘Fair Folk’ and ‘Once upon a time in Calcutta’. On the other hand, “Ladies Only’, ‘Urf’ and ‘Ayena’ are some of the documentary movies chosen to receive awards this year.

All the winners of best film, best documentary and indie movies will also receive state of art cameras designed by Black Magic Design. An interesting thing about winning the best film award is that the winning film makes a direct entry in the Best Asian Film category at the Australian Academy,y of Cinema and Television Arts Awards. 

Like every year, this year will also include awards like Best Series, Best Actor and Actress. Some series like ‘Mai’, ‘Mumbai Diaries’, ‘Yeh Kaali Kaali Aankhein’, ‘Aranyak’ and many others are considered for the nominations. 

Actors like Gopal Hegde, Rajkummar Rao, Ranveer Singh, Vicky Kaushal and others have been nominated for the best actor category. On the other hand, stars like Deepika Padukone, Alia Bhatt, Konkana Sen, Shefali Shah, Vidya Balan, Sreelekha Mitra and Lijomol Jose have been named for the best actress title.
