When Netflix India announced their list of 17 new offerings in B Town, it did shock many. But the streaming giant can have such surprises, which it keeps on making time and again. The 17 Indian films and web series for the audience have been a big surprise but can you imagine the amount of money it has paid to the makers of the films like Ludo and Dolly Kitty Aur Woh Chamakte Sitare? Well, it’s unimaginable and huge.
As per Koimoi, the streaming giant has paid a whopping amount for both the films, which are available for the direct release on Netflix. As per reports, they have paid 40 to 50 crores for the said films, which seems to have low star cast, and not from a big banner as well. Sources close to the makers, the streaming giant has gained Dolly Kitty Aur Woh Chamakte Sitare at a cost of 40 crores, while for Ludo starring Rajkummar Rao, Fatima Sana and Abhishek Bachchan, they closed the deal with 50 Crores.
The makers were able to negotiate well with Netflix for the other costs of the film, which include the music and TV rights. The officials at Netflix felt that paying Ludo higher than the other was justified since it has remained the most awaited film in B Town and it has been even reviewed at global platforms like Busan International Film Festival. In other words, the film has already grabbed the eyeballs around the world. However, for Anurag Basu, it seems to be an average deal as it involved top actors in the film. Well, the streaming giant is expected to get more films like 83 and other in the coming time. Let’s wait and watch!
