Fawad Khan and Mahira Khan’s ‘The Legend of Maula Jatt’ Faces Uncertainty Over India Release

Following the global acclaim and love for The Legend of Maula Jatt, starring Fawad Khan and Mahira Khan, there were reports suggesting that the film might release in certain parts of India. However, due to the recent uproar from specific groups, this release now appears doubtful. The prospect of a Pakistani film hitting Indian screens has faced backlash from some factions who oppose the idea.
According to an ANI report, a local group has expressed their anger over the potential release of a Pakistani film in India, particularly in light of the ongoing ban on Indian films in Pakistan since 2019. Amey Khopkar, President of the MNS Wing, was quoted saying, “We will not entertain any Pakistani film or actors in India.” He further stated, “This movie will not be released. If it does, there will be strong protests.” He justified this stance as a way to honor the sacrifices made by Indian soldiers. “Our soldiers are dying… Why do we need Pakistani actors here? Don’t we have enough talent?
This should be seen as a threat. How can anyone consider watching movies featuring Pakistani actors?” he questioned. Since the Uri attacks in 2016, Pakistani actors and artists have been banned from participating in Indian projects. However, both Fawad Khan and Mahira Khan have previously made their Bollywood debuts in Khoobsurat (2014) and Raees (2017), respectively.
As for The Legend of Maula Jatt, the film is anticipated to be a reboot of the 1979 Pakistani classic and centers around the legendary rivalry between the folk hero Maula Jatt and his arch-nemesis, Noori Natt, portrayed by Hamza Ali Abbas. The film premiered in Pakistani cinemas on October 13, 2022. Stay tuned to know more about it and others only with us. If you have anything to share, do comment and let us know more on it.
