Farhan Akhtar’s ‘Jee Le Zaraa’ Set to Resume Production Soon

In 2021, actor-director Farhan Akhtar teased fans with the announcement of his all-female travel film, ‘Jee Le Zaraa.’ The project quickly garnered high anticipation, but after the initial announcement, no further updates were provided. Originally scheduled to begin production last year, the film was postponed as Akhtar shifted his focus to another project, ‘Don 3.’ Speculation arose that ‘Jee Le Zaraa’ had been shelved, but recent developments indicate that Akhtar and Excel Entertainment are planning to revive the project. According to a source close to the production house, the team has been quietly refining the script, with the delay attributed to scheduling conflicts.
The source revealed, “While ‘Jee Le Zaraa’ was temporarily put on hold before entering the pre-production stage, the team at Excel continued to work on finalizing the script.” The film’s delay was primarily due to date issues and not a complete cancellation, as it holds significant importance for all stakeholders involved, including the producers, writers, and director. The script is now fully developed, and the team is eager to revive the project. ‘Jee Le Zaraa’ holds special significance for Akhtar and Excel Entertainment, as it is conceived as the third installment in their series of “slice-of-life friendship films,” following the success of ‘Dil Chahta Hai’ and ‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara.’
During Priyanka Chopra’s visit to India, she and Akhtar reportedly discussed the project’s revival. Furthermore, Akhtar met with Alia Bhatt and Katrina Kaif to coordinate their schedules and kickstart ‘Jee Le Zaraa.’ In an interview with Variety, Akhtar clarified that the project was temporarily put on hold due to scheduling conflicts but expressed his belief that it has its own destiny and will come to fruition when the time is right. With recent developments indicating that the film is back on track, it is expected to generate significant buzz and anticipation among fans, given the success of Akhtar and Excel Entertainment’s previous travel-themed friendship films.
