Brahmastra box office: Ranbir Kapoor & Alia Bhatt starrer keeps impressing even on Monday
Following a massive opening weekend, Brahmastra entered a settling phase, with Rs. 16 crores* (including the south versions) coming in. Footfalls have been strong for the film, particularly in the 3D and IMAX versions. Also, ticket prices are much lower on weekdays, but they were raised to a record high on Sunday.
Of course, a figure closer to Rs. 18-20 crores would have been preferable because it would have demonstrated a stronger grip. Having said that, given the state of films in general over the last 8-10 months, this is still impressive enough because it shows that there is appreciation coming in, which is resulting in neutral audiences walking in after the initial crowd has subsided.
Additionally, one must keep in mind that the fourth day of the Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt’s film, is still higher than its first day Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 which was the biggest Bollywood debut to date. This movie, Brahmastra, outperformed that one on day one, earning Rs. 14.11 crores, and it did so after a strong weekend, which is an accomplishment in and of itself.
One must now wait to see how much of a hold the movie maintains in the ensuing work weeks, as that will determine its ultimate lifespan.
This is not to say that Brahmastra should be satisfied with its current score. In fact, it must continue to collect well and not experience daily drops of more than 10% to 15% until Thursday. Assuming that holds true, the movie should easily surpass the 200 crore mark before the end of the second weekend since 138 crores* have already been made.
