Bombay Velvet, the upcoming Hindi film is about a passionate love story in a growing metropolis city, life in jazz clubs, and a phenomenal human hunger for a good and successful life. Based on the historian Gyan Prakash’s book Mumbai Fables, the movie is directed and co-produced by Anurag Kashyap. Ranbir Kapoor is in the lead role, playing the character of an ordinary man going against all odds and forging his destiny towards success. Filmmaker Karan Johar also plays an important role in the film.
Earlier, there was a date scuffle between Bombay Velvet and PK as the director Anurag Kashyap and Rajkumar Hirani both wanted to release their respective films around December 19. But with Anurag Kashyap’s officially announcement that his film Bombay Velvet will release on November 28 and not during the Christmas season, the clash has been avoided. Actor Ranbir Kapoor says the film has been Kashyap’s dream for nine years and it is best that it does not clash with any film.
Also with the business prospective it is a better release date as theaters will not be blocked. Clashing with another film highly affects the film’s business. “Anurag has made this film with lot of hard work and love. Since it is an entertaining and engaging film we hope it attracts wider audience,” Ranbir said. Being paired for the first time in the film, Ranbir and Anushka Sharma portray lovers whose lives intermingle with the evolution of the Bombay city, through the 50s to early 70s.
The box office collection will only prove whether changing the release date helps the movie or not!!!
