The period drama Batwara 1947 arrived in theaters on August 14, 2026, just ahead of Independence Day. Directed by Rajkumar Santoshi, the film has caught wide attention for its story set during the Partition of India. It features a star-studded cast including Sunny Deol, Preity G. Zinta, Shabana Azmi, Ali Fazal, and Karan Deol in key roles. While the film continues its theatrical run, many viewers are eagerly waiting for its digital premiere on OTT.

Upon moving in, they discover that an elderly Hindu woman is still residing inside the house. The narrative is reportedly adapted from Asghar Wajahat’s famous play Jis Lahore Nai Dekhya, O Jamyai Nai.
Batwara 1947 features an ensemble cast that also includes Aamir Khan, Vicky Kaushal, Mithun Chakraborty, Abhimanyu Singh, Rukhsar Rehman, and Kanikka Kapur. The film was reportedly produced on an estimated budget ranging between ₹120 crore and ₹150 crore. On its opening day, it earned an estimated ₹5.75 crore net at the domestic box office.
