Anupamaa Set Catches Fire In Mumbai, Cine association seeks action

Early on Monday morning, June 23, a large fire started on the set of "Anupamaa," which starred Rupali Ganguly, in Mumbai's Film City.

Early on Monday morning, June 23, a large fire started on the set of “Anupamaa,” which starred Rupali Ganguly, in Mumbai’s Film City. Just two hours before the day’s shoot was supposed to start, the fire broke out at around five in the morning and completely destroyed the set.

When the incident happened, a number of employees and crew members were on the scene getting ready for the shot. Fortunately, there have been no reports of casualties or injuries. However, the fire’s timing has sparked grave worries because it could have had a much more disastrous effect if it had occurred during filming.

The All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) urged a high-level probe into the cause of the fire and condemned the negligence in a statement following the tragedy. Additionally, the television organization is advocating for all shooting venues to have thorough fire safety precautions implemented by law.

“The Honourable Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Shri Devendra Fadnavis, has been strongly urged by Sureh Shyamlal Gupta, President of the All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA), to order a high-level judicial inquiry into this fire incident,” the statement said.

In addition, Gupta called for the Mumbai Labour Commissioner and the Managing Director of Film City to be suspended immediately in order to make them responsible for their disregard for safety rules.

In closing, Gupta urged the Chief Minister to immediately order a thorough fire safety audit of all Maharashtra movie sets and studios. He adamantly declared that any TV channel, production company, or producer discovered to be violating fire safety regulations need to be immediately banned.
