Is Rohit Saraf Playing Ranjha in Heer Ranjha? Here’s What We Know!
Just days after the official announcement of Heer Ranjha, the sequel to Laila Majnu, speculation about the film’s lead actor has already sparked conversations online. On February 14, 2026, producers Ektaa Kapoor and Imtiaz Ali announced their reunion for the sequel to the 2018 romantic drama Laila Majnu, which originally starred Avinash Tiwary and Triptii Dimri.
The new film, Heer Ranjha, will be directed by Sajid Ali, who also directed the original. However, no cast details were revealed at the time of the announcement. On the same day, Variety India reported that Rohit Saraf had been confirmed to play the male lead, Ranjha. The report stated, “While the cast has not been officially announced, Variety India has exclusively learned that Rohit Saraf is locked to play Ranjha.”
However, sources close to the film’s development later told Hindustan Times that the report is false and that casting is still ongoing. The source added that an official cast announcement will be made soon. Notably, the makers have yet to comment publicly to confirm or deny Rohit Saraf’s involvement.
Despite the uncertainty, the buzz around Rohit potentially playing Ranjha has excited fans, given his rising popularity among younger audiences. Rohit was last seen in Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari and is set to return in the fourth season of the popular series Mismatched. He also stars in the Amazon Prime Video original show Revolutionaries.
