Hera Pheri 3 Controversy: Paresh Rawal’s Legal Team Claims He Was Never Given the Script

The ongoing controversy surrounding Hera Pheri 3 has taken a new twist as veteran actor Paresh Rawal’s legal team addresses claims made against him. In an interview with Times of India, Rawal’s lawyer clarified that the actor was never provided with a script or any substantial content from the team working under Akshay Kumar’s production banner. Rawal’s legal team has raised questions about the basis on which the production house is claiming losses, arguing that no material—be it a script or an agreement—was ever established in the first place. Recent reports indicate that a legal notice has been issued to Akshay Kumar, Priyadarshan, Suniel Shetty, and Paresh Rawal by the original producer, Firoz Nadiadwala.
This notice reportedly prohibits all four from participating in any promotions, endorsements, or activities related to the Hera Pheri franchise. It further stipulates that any attempt to proceed with such activities will be considered a willful breach, asserting that the intellectual property (IP) rights to all characters, including the iconic Babu Bhaiya, belong to Nadiadwala.Sources close to the actor revealed that Akshay Kumar had previously assured Rawal, saying, “Don’t worry, trust me. You’ll see it later in the long-form agreement.” Based on this assurance and their longstanding relationship, Paresh Rawal is believed to have signed the term sheet in good faith. Although the promo for Hera Pheri 3 was filmed on a modified version of the Bhooth Bangla set, it was initially intended for a 2026 start, and Rawal had suggested postponing the promo shoot to the following year.
As of now, the actor claims he has not received any long-term agreement, script, or formal production details. Moreover, reports suggest that Rawal has a strong emotional connection to his beloved character of Baburao Ganpatrao Apte, popularly known as Babu Bhaiya, which has prompted him to seek clarity before moving forward with the project. The actor’s legal team told Times of India, “Admittedly, they did not deliver the story, screenplay, or a draft of a long-form agreement, which was fundamental to the engagement of our client. In the absence of these, and since Mr. Nadiadwala, the producer of the original films, issued a notice to our client raising concerns about the film’s production, our client chose to exit and returned the money with interest by terminating the term sheet.
