Pankaj Tripathi’s Ohh My Dog Postponed to August 7 Due to Spider-Man: Brand New Day Screen Shortage
The release of Pankaj Tripathi’s upcoming family drama, Ohh My Dog, has encountered a last-minute setback. Directed by Amit Rai, the film was originally scheduled for a theatrical release on July 31. However, the release has now been pushed back by a week to August 7 to avoid a direct box-office clash with Marvel Studios’ massive blockbuster Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
Strategic Shift Amid Marvel Screen Monopolization
Industry sources report that the decision stems from severe screen shortages. Exhibitors across the country are prioritizing maximum screen allocation for the Tom Holland and Zendaya starrer, making it difficult for mid-budget films to secure adequate showcasing.
By pushing the release date to August 7, the makers hope to secure better screen availability and give Ohh My Dog a stronger, unimpeded theatrical run. An official statement regarding the revised date is expected shortly.
CBFC Certification Mandates Minor Edits and Disclaimers
The delay follows the film successfully receiving its U/A certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), subject to a few modifications:
About the Audio & Visual Edits, these comes under the Brand names including Truecaller and Dettol were muted, a cuss word was removed, and a photo frame of Lord Hanuman was blurred. At the same time, there were some Scene Adjustments which came in teh form of a brief sequence featuring a dog was cut by two seconds. Lastly there was a required disclaimer from the board. It instructed the team to add explicit disclaimers addressing child labor and human trafficking—both key themes in the narrative.
