Fukrey 3: CBFC Edits Scenes Featuring Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin; Alters Dialogue Mentioning Munna Bhai MBBS
The box office is dry this week, with all new releases opening to poor numbers. However, the trade and industry are hopeful that next week’s releases, Fukrey 3 and The Vaccine War, will set the box office on fire. Expectations are high for Fukrey 3, as the last two installments were huge successes. Fukrey 3 has been granted a U/A certificate by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). However, the censor board asked for a few minor changes.
The CBFC asked the makers of Fukrey 3 to remove a poster with visuals of world leaders like ex-President of USA Donald Trump and President of Russia Vladimir Putin. They also asked for a modification to the dialogue “Jaise Sanju baba ne Maqsood bhai ko jhappi daali”, which is likely a reference to the touching scene in Munna Bhai MBBS (2003) where Munna Bhai hugs a cleaner, Maqsood. The cut list does not provide any additional details about the modification.
Finally, the makers of Fukrey 3 added an anti-smoking health ad at the beginning and after the first half of the film. After these changes were made, the censor certificate was granted on September 20. The film is 150 minutes long, or 2 hours and 30 minutes.
Fukrey 3 is a 2023 Indian Hindi-language comedy film directed by Mrighdeep Singh Lamba and produced by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar under the banner of Excel Entertainment. It is the third installment in the Fukrey franchise, after Fukrey (2013) and Fukrey Returns (2017). The film stars Pulkit Samrat, Richa Chadha, Varun Sharma, Manjot Singh, and Pankaj Tripathi.
