The Mumbai Crime Branch recently detained a baker named Anthony Paul and his friend Rajesh Babhote on suspicion of framing the actress in connection with the alleged drug-smuggling case.

On Tuesday, a Mumbai metropolitan magistrate court remanded Anthony Paul and his friend Rajesh Babhote alias Ravi in police custody until May 2. The two were arrested on suspicion of duping actress Chrisann Pereira and four other people into becoming drug mules. According to investigators, Paul was the mastermind who intended to get revenge on Pereira. Meanwhile, investigators are looking into whether Paul is involved in other illegal narcotics activities.

“It’s nothing short of a miracle.” We are overjoyed and pleased that my daughter has been released from jail. “We are hopeful that she will arrive in India within the next 48 hours,” Chrisann’s mother, Premila, said in a statement to Indian Express. When asked how the actress was released, her mother replied, “We have no idea.” When we spoke with her earlier in the day, she stated she was summoned to take her clothes (in which she was transported to the prison). She called a few hours later to say she had been released. We are not sure who intervened, but we are grateful to everyone who helped us. “I can’t wait to see my girl,” Chrisann Pereira’s mother stated.
