As India gears up for the crucial fifth phase of the Lok Sabha elections on Monday, May 20, 2024, two of Bollywood’s biggest stars, Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan, have taken it upon themselves to inspire the citizens of Maharashtra to exercise their right to vote and fulfill their civic duties. On May 18, Shah Rukh Khan took to his official social media platforms to write a heartfelt message, urging his fellow Indians to participate in the democratic process.

And now, I’m going to exercise my right to vote on the 20th of May, no matter what. So, do whatever you want to do, man, but go and vote and let’s not trouble our Bharat Mata… Bharat Mata ki Jai.” The involvement of Bollywood celebrities in encouraging voter turnout is not a new phenomenon.
