Ambubachi Fest 2017: Devoleena Bhattacharjee, Mahika Sharma and Parineeta Borthakur implore fans to visit Nilachal Hill, Assam!

While Assam Government leave no stone unturned in developing Assam Tourism, Popular actresses like Devoleena Bhattacharjee, Mahika Sharma and Parineeta comes forward imploring their fans to visit Assam this monsoon. Like every year even this year preparation for the four-day Ambubachi Mela starts at Nilachal Hills at Assam, where Kamakhya temple is situated. Kamakhya temple is one of the Shakti Pithas. Recently the famous Ambubachi Mela, also known as Ambubasi festival, has started at the Kamakhya Devi Temple at Guwahati, Assam. It is an annual festival of the state.

Devoleena Bhattacharjee shares “Assam is one among the centre of religious and spiritual tourism, set around Ambubachi Mela and Kamakhya Temple. Goddess Kamakhya’s temple has established the state as one of the great spiritual destinations in the country and all efforts are being made by the government to highlight this great place of worship on the world stage. I belive people should try visiting the mela and explore Assam. They will for sure feel the presence of Devi Maa.”

Mahika Sharma adds, “Ambubachi Mela is the most important and popular festival at the Kamakhya Temple in Guwahati, Assam. I have exprienced the mela when I was in Guwahati for my higher education. Ambubachi Mela is also known as the Ameti or the Tantric fertility festival and has a close association with the tantric rituals and practices. The Mela is a ritual of austerities celebrated with Tantric rites’ and celebrates the yearly menstrual cycle of the goddess Kamakhya. It is believed that the earth becomes impure for three days and during this time no puja, reading of scriptures, farming work is undertaken. After three days Maa Kamakhya is bathed and other rituals are performed. On fourth day, temple doors are reopened and Prasad is distributed. Lakhs of devotees visit to have glimpse and Pray to Maa Kamakhya. I wish people who are in search of God must visit the place during the Mela. Mother Earth and Suprime Power Durga will for sure bless her true hearted devotee and give them power to live healthy.”

Ambubasi fest which is organized at Kamakhya temple at assam, my home state. It is said to be birth place of earth and it is among the oldest 52 Shakti Peethas of India. According to kalika purana, mother earth (Durga) goes through her yearly menstrual cycle during the days during monsoon. Lakhs of devotee visits to have glimpse and pray to goddess for peace and prosperity. This period is known to be the most auspicious,” Parineeta Borthakur adds in her statement.
