Rishi Kapoor’s Best Movies: An actor with irrepressible spirit

R Kapoor films

We can call Rishi Kapoor as a third generation film star, who remains the unofficial record keeper of Hindi Cinema history. He was widely known as a vibrant person in the industry. As he leaves us today at 67 losing battle against cancer and leaving his family and friends behind, it would be fair to check the list of best films from his career as a tribute and remember the late actor.

Mera Naam Joker – The late actor was seen as a child artist giving his debut in this film as a kid.

Bobby – The film was made by his father to recover from the losses of his earlier film Mera Naam Joker. With a constraint budget, he launched his son – Rishi Kapoor with Dimple and to his surprise, it became a big hit and is still remembered as a cult film in B Town.

Khel Khel Mein – The film was a big hit that made Rishi Kapoor free from his earlier flops like Zahreela Insan and Rafoo Chakkar. This film glued the on and off screen chemistry with Neetu Singh.

Amar Akbar Anthony – The multistarrer film turned a big hit despite being short on logic and intellect while being long on wackiness.

Coolie and Naseeb – Then came Coolie with Big B, which showcased yet another incredible chemistry with the star in the early eighties followed by the other called Naseeb. Both the films strengthened their strong bonds in Hindi films.

Karz – Although this film did not fare well, yet the revenge drama based on Hollywood film The Reincarnation of Peter Proud (1975) is remembered a lot and even has its remake by Himesh Reshmammiya.

Chandani – Kapoor ended the eighties era with this film opposite Sridevi and it has remained the best celebrated film from Yash Chopra.

Aa Ab Laut Chale – This film came in his career as a director and then came his modern age films.

The Modern Age films included Love Me Twist, Love Aaj Kal, Luck By Chance, Agneepath, D-Day, Kapoor and Sons, 102 Not Out, Mulk, and the last film The Body.
