As we see Sanjay Leela Bhansali embarking with his magnum opus called Padmavat this Republic Day eve, he was seen getting the best of the collection at the box office. In just four days, the film managed to get into the hundred crore club with the collection reaching to 114 crore. So, when the makers were able to earn that big in these four days, it would be fair to say that the film would sail smooth despite threatened to sink inside the turbulent times created by the fringe groups that kept their agitation from bad to worse. So, it would be fair to say that this film can promise him a decent earning at the box office for sure. How about analyzing his previous movies and the way they have performed over the box office in their first weekend.
Let’s talk about the film – Bajirao Mastani, the film released in 2015 the film was seen with a bit of competition from SRK movie Dilwale. It earned 46.77 crore, which went on to score well beating Dilwale in a big way so comparing it with Padmavat, the latter seems to be way ahead. Now, let’s talk about the other film Ram – Leela featuring Deepika and Ranveer Sing again. The film had a dramatic and tragic romantic story yet it managed to earn around 52.60 crore in its opening weekend. Comparing it with Padmavat, it was way behind the latter in a big way.
The other films like Guzaarish, Saawariya and Devdas, which also faired with good reviews, however, their earnings have been modest when compared with Padmavat. The former only score 13.78 crore over the first weekend, while Saawariya could only secure 11.23 crore and lastly the SRK starrer movie Devdas only could mint around 6.15 crore. Therefore, looking at these past figures, one can claim that Padmaavat appears to be the most promising film, despite having several other obstacles. In fact, it has even beaten the single day highest collection records of Dangal, PK and Dhoom 3 and thus can be the biggest film for Bhansali for sure.
