Why Aamir Khan Earned a Special Mention in Avinash Arun’s Prahaar?

Released on last Friday (October 16), the acclaimed film Prahaar has quickly captured audiences with its powerful subject matter, intense emotional beats, award-winning performances, and masterful direction by Avinash Arun. Beyond the film’s on-screen brilliance, astute moviegoers noticed a surprise credit during the rolling titles: Aamir Khan featured prominently in the “Special Thanks” section. In an exclusive conversation with Bollywood Hungama, director Avinash Arun pulled back the curtain on why Khan received this special acknowledgment.

Arun revealed that Khan played a pivotal role in getting him attached to the project in the first place. According to the filmmaker, Khan personally recommended his name to producer Dinesh Vijan, encouraging him to take on the venture because he believed Arun was uniquely suited to do justice to the material. This endorsement served as the primary motivation for Arun to step into the director’s chair for Prahaar.

Expressing deep gratitude, Arun shared that Khan has quietly kept track of his creative trajectory ever since his celebrated directorial debut, Killa (2015). The superstar even reached out to appreciate his work following the hit web series Paatal Lok. When asked if this mutual admiration could soon translate into an on-screen collaboration, Arun hinted that discussions are actively underway on a couple of concepts, raising hopes that the two will join forces officially in the near future.

An alumnus of the prestigious Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune, Avinash Arun has carved a dual path as an esteemed cinematographer and director. His stellar lensing work includes acclaimed features like Masaan (2015), Drishyam (2015), Madaari (2016), Hichki (2018), and Karwaan (2018). As a director, he has helmed Killa, Three Of Us (2023), and acclaimed web projects like School Of Lies, Paatal Lok, and Pritam And Pedro.

True to his signature style, Arun once again donned dual hats for Prahaar, serving as both director and director of photography (DOP). With Prahaar already making waves, Khan’s timely behind-the-scenes push has undoubtedly added another feather to Arun’s illustrious career cap.
