OMG: Akshay Kumar’s Toilet- Ek Prem Katha in a legal soup for copying content from short film Manini

Akshay Kumar

Though the Akshay Kumar starrer movie called Toilet- Ek Prem Katha has broken all records for having maximum number of views for its trailer, the film seems to be in a legal soup now. The film is a sarcastic take over the Indian Prime Minister Cleanliness movement called Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. As per the recent buzz, the film seems to be in a legal trouble as the notice has been given to the makers by a Delhi-based legal firm called Litmus Legal to the production house Viacom 18 Media and the makers of Toilet-Ek Prem Katha, from Praveen Vyas who happens to be a Varanasi-based filmmaker and theatre artist.

Both Vyas and his lawyers have said that the movie seemed to have copied the plot from his short film called Manini. Talking about the film to the media, he said that he has sent a notice to the producers after he saw the trailer which has a striking resemblance to his short film. And in many ways, it has good amount of similarities. However, the makers of the film have denied about the allegation.

They have replied saying that nothing really has been copied from any such film and the ideas projected in the movie is the original work of the company, which will be deemed to be admitted by a number of reasons of being non-traverse. The makers are now in the process of collating the data for their clients in order to reply to the said notice against the said allegation.
