Vir Das gives a befitting reply to troll who wants to slap him like Will Smith slapped Chris Rock

Vir Das has responded to a troll who stated that he “deserves” to be slapped just like Chris Rock. World media saw Will Smith slapping Chris for making a joke about his wife Jada Pinkett Smith at the 94th Academy Awards on March 28. Vir stated that, while Chris did not retaliate against Will, he will reciprocate the slap if someone attempted to do the same to him.

The Twitter exchange took place on Sunday after Vir shared a picture of his disheveled hair, and joked in the caption, “There’s mutiny the the hair.” A Twitter user mocked Vir in the comment section and wrote, “Someone needs to do a will Smith on this one. He would totally deserve it too.”

Vir Das responded to the troll and asked him to come to his next show. He tweeted, “You’re welcome to buy a front row ticket and try at my next show. Just know I slap back. Also once you’ve spent that front row money, your wife will probably slap you for ruining her evening. Cheers.”

After the whole episode the comedian’s fans praised his response, one user called it “slapstick comedy.” Another wrote, “this is what I call ‘art of dealing with an online troll’. Very well done Vir.” Some fans mocked the Twitter user who asked Vir’s slapgate, with one writing, “bold of you to assume he has a wife and one who wants to be seen with him him publicly.”

Another tweeted, “It won’t happen Vir, in the previous case both were celebrities, so guards didn’t enter the play. Here one Is ordinary citizen. Guard will perform a Thor ka hammer on him. if he tried to enter the stage.”

Though Vir had earlier been silent on the controversial Oscars slapgate, he offered a joke after The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences launched a formal internal review. In response to a news item on the probe, Vir joked, “Maybe just watch the Oscars?”

Will Smith slapped Chris for making a joke about Jada Pinkett Smith’s shaved head. “Jada, I can’t wait for GI Jane 2,” the comic remarked, referring to Demi Moore’s 1997 film GI Jane, in which Demi’s character Jordan O’Neil shaves her head after joining the Navy Seals and conceals her femininity, transforming into GI Jane. Meanwhile, Jada disclosed on her talk show a few years back that she shaved her head after being diagnosed with alopecia areata, an autoimmune illness.

Will has since resigned from the Academy, and an official investigation into his action has been launched.
