Wiki – Vidya Balan is a well known face in Indian Cinema popularly known as Bollywood. She is known for her ace acting skills and versatile skill sets for playing different characters in a number of films. For her acting skills and great performance, she has been awarded with a five Filmfare awards and Five Screen awards and is also recognized for her talents with national level award called Padma Shri by Indian Government in the year 2014. She is popular for showcasing strong female protagonists and is also recognized in the Indian media for breaking all the stereotypes found in the earlier Hindi film lead actresses.
Bio – Vidya Balan, since her childhood always aspired to become an actress and she finally got her first break in a TV serial called Hum Paanch in the year 1995. She has her masters in Sociology from Bombay University, during her education; she kept making her efforts to get a break in the movie industry but constantly failed to get any offer. After trying a lot and working for a number of TV commercials, she finally got her first break in the year 2004 as a main female protagonist of Bengali film called Bhalo Theko. This gave a good launch pad for her first Hindi musical drama movie – Parineeta in the year 2006 as a main lead in the movie. Her work was appreciated even by the critics of the film world, giving her enough room to stay stable.
Later she played the character of Jhanvi the RJ in the popular film called Lage Raho Munna Bhai, which led her to several other movies like Heyy Babyy in 2007 and Kismat Konnection in 2008, however, both these movies led her certain negative comments from the film critics. Later as the year 2009 embarked she was seen getting some of the best and acclaimed film called Paa, which shaped her as a good actress. Later her movie – Ishqiya in the year 2011 and the semi biographical thriller – No one killed Jessica in the year really turned things around. Lastly came the biopic with Imran Hashmi called The Dirty Picture and the thriller story known as Kahani, which brought new accolades for the actress. The recent one – Shadi ke Side Effects with Farhan Akhtar is seen doing well in the box office.
Apart from being busy as an actress, Vidya is also involved in a number of humanitarian causes and seen supporting for the cause of women empowerment. Recently she was seen in the media for being fluctuating in her weight and having questionable dress sense, however, was later seen credited for not being morphing herself in order to put inside the conventional slot. Last year (2012), she married to Siddharth Roy Kapur, who is a film producer in the Indian cinema industry.
