Shahid Kapoor might be riding high on his previous film Kabir Singh’s success, but he is also castigated a lot by his detractors. The actor was condemned a lot for playing a role that carries a misogynistic tone. However, there were a few who came in his support and this certainly includes actress Vidya Balan. She stood against the criticism that objected to the role of Shahid Kapoor in the film.
While talking to the students of St. Xavier’s College, the Bobby Jasoos actress said that she rarely watches any movie but a few remain close to her heart. She added saying that she has grown up all these years being an actress and a person. She then said earlier she used to consider things on the face of it but now she understands things coming in her, for example, Kabir Singh. She said that there was a lot of hue and cry about the character in the film that he remained disrespectful to women in it.
She said she used to react the same earlier but now feel that the film did not glorify the negative character. The film is about the story of a man called Kabir who has his own way of love and romance. She said she wouldn’t mind going and catching up on the film like Kabir Singh. Talking about her choice of roles in the film she said that she is fortunate to do roles that align her beliefs. She then said she got other films but she chose the ones that she can vouch for. Talking about her work, she is doing a biopic on Shankuntala Devi the human-computer.
