We all know the tireless efforts of Sonu Sood and his team who worked hard to send back the migrant workers back home to states like UP, Bihar, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh by arranging transport from Mumbai. As per reports, he and his team was able to send back more than 12k laborers, workers and students back home. He also has started ventures like providing free education and medical facilities to the kids of socially and economically backward classes.
For all his efforts during the lockdown called due to the COVID 19 pandemic, we now see the United Nations Development Programme or UNDP applauding the work of the actor. He was given the prestigious SDG Special Humanitarian Action Award by the UNDP in the recently held virtual award ceremony back home. With his award, Sonu Sood has entered the bandwagon of actors like Angelina Jolie, Leonardo DiCaprio, David Beckham, Emma Watson, Cate Blanchett, Liam Neeson, Antonio Banderas, Priyanka Chopra and Nicole Kidman.
This is often called a rare honor by the UNDP and comes only for special people like Sonu Sood who have done exceptional work in the domain of welfare and social cause. While talking about the same, Sonu Sood said he has done a little work in a humble way for the people of his country. However, he feels good and honored to get the award. He said he will always support such efforts and initiatives of the UNDP to achieve the SDGs by 2030.
