Box Office Update: Anupam Kher starrer The Kashmir Files is soaring high at BO

The Kashmir Files soared through the roof on Saturday, with 8.50 crores more coming in after overperforming big time on Friday [3.55 crores]. This is extremely incredible, because miracles like these occurred only during the pre-pandemic period, and only with a few films that emerged as a dark horse. However, this occurred relatively early in 2022, with theatres reopening only three Fridays prior. Still, the fact that viewers are flocking to a niche film like this and challenging the biggest Bollywood films now in theatres is eye-opening.

The Kashmir Files, which was released on only 700 screens, is performing extremely well and is already experiencing an increase in showings. Exhibitors have already begun making plans for a larger number of exhibits on Sunday, and it will be a completely different situation from Monday onwards. This is the second time that Vivek Agnihotri’s film, The Tashkent Files, has seen strong word of mouth translate into strong box office collections. That film started off slowly but steadily gained traction, and in this case, a strong start is a plus.

The Kashmir Files has already made quadruple the first week collections of The Tashkent Files [3.5 crores] and has covered more than half of the distance of its lifespan [18 crores] with 10.55 crores in its bank account. The way things are going, by the conclusion of the first weekend, it will have surpassed even that figure, making it a lottery for everyone involved.
