The Diplomat: John Abraham’s Thriller Banned in UAE, Saudi Arabia, Oman, and Qatar Over Content Issues

Starring John Abraham, the latest political thriller, The Diplomat, has encountered significant challenges in the Middle East, with reports confirming that the film has been banned in the United Arab Emirates (UAE)Saudi ArabiaOman, and Qatar. While an official reason for the ban has yet to be disclosed, industry insiders speculate that the film’s politically sensitive themes may be the underlying cause.
Not the First Film Facing Censorship
This ban adds The Diplomat to a growing list of Indian films facing restrictions in the Gulf due to content deemed controversial. This is not the first time when we see Bollywood films were banned outside particularly in the Middle East. Previously, Salman Khan’s Tiger 3 was banned in KuwaitOman, and Qatar over concerns regarding its portrayal of Muslim characters. Similarly, Akshay Kumar’s Sky Force encountered restrictions in several Middle Eastern countries.
As of now, neither the Middle Eastern authorities nor the filmmakers have commented on the ban. However, this situation underscores the ongoing challenges filmmakers face in achieving global distribution while navigating regional sensitivities. Despite this setback, The Diplomat continues to attract attention for its gripping storyline and powerful performances.
