Aamir Khan and Rajkumar Hirani’s Dadasaheb Phalke Biopic Hits a Roadblock; Perfectionist Requests Script Rewrite

The much-anticipated reunion of Aamir Khan and Rajkumar Hirani for the Dadasaheb Phalke biopic had fans buzzing with excitement. After their cult classics 3 Idiots and PK, expectations were sky-high for this third collaboration. However, recent updates reveal a setback for the project.

A reliable insider told Bollywood Hungama on condition of anonymity, “Aamir Khan listened to the script narrated by Rajkumar Hirani and Abhijat Joshi but felt it lacked the essential elements needed for a compelling theatrical experience. He expected the usual blend of humor, emotion, and drama typical of Rajkumar and Abhijat’s style, but the script was surprisingly devoid of comedy.

This made Aamir doubt the film’s potential, prompting him to ask Raju to rewrite the script and come back with improvements.”The source added, “Raju and Abhijat were taken aback by Aamir’s reaction and are currently evaluating the next steps. The film, initially slated to begin shooting in October 2025, is now off track.

Production plans are stalled, and Aamir has already started exploring other scripts. He’s auditioning stories from various industries as his search for the perfect project continues.”With the Dadasaheb Phalke biopic on hold, both this collaboration and Aamir’s project with director Lokesh Kanagaraj appear to be temporarily sidelined.

Aamir Khan credits himself for pioneering innovations with Lagaan: “It was the first Bollywood film to use a first AD, walkie-talkies, and sync sound; Ronit Roy secured the sets with 150 guards—a first in the industry.”
